The machine does make ice, however, that is the end of anything positive I can (personally) say about this Silonn Nugget Ice Maker. The machine is being labeled as a Tontz brand. The item’s photo image does not have a branding shown. The ice maker received was branded as Silonn on the box and the center front of the machine itself. I’m unsure of why the deceitful presentation but it is indeed a “Silonn” brand that is being shipped under this description.The machine does make a rather loud “hum”. Think refrigerator/freezer “hum” times 1000. To some, the noise may not be considered that bad but, for me, it was really annoying and seemed to get louder as timed pass. I’m sure that was my anxiety and the sound was overstimulating me.While the machine does make ice in a fairly timely fashion, it does NOT make “nugget” ice. Nugget ice is compressed ice flakes that provide that chewable and satisfying crunch. This machine makes tiny ice “cubes”. The size of the “cube” is the only thing that makes them remotely “chewable” but it is not compressed ice flakes nuggets like Sonic, Chick Fil A, etc. The instructions state to run around 3 batches and discard to get to the perfect and desired consistency. I did that but no amount of cycles will make this “nugget ice”. The ice made is also EXTREMELY wet. There is obviously a design flaw and there is not adequate insulation between the machinery and the ice bin. The ice maker feels rather warm to the touch and I’m sure that results in the ice dropped by the machine being extremely wet. If you think you’ll bag and freeze the produced ice, be prepared to have a mallet or ice pick to bust the solid hunk of ice you will end up with in a freezer.After buying bags of Chick Fil A ice every week, I was hopeful I could save myself the trips by investing in an ice maker. I preferred the GE Profile as I’ve seen them in action and I love them. However, it is a rather large machine and I didn’t want to dedicate that kind of counter space to an ice maker. I decided to try a more compact model but after this disappointment, I will go back to my weekly Chick Fil A runs just for bags of ice.
